Goeikai USA, is a branch of the Okinawa Gojuryu Karate-do Goeikai Shimabukuro Dojo SoHombu that seeks to preserve and promulgate the traditional martial arts of Okinawa, throughout North America and the world. Goju-Ryu Goeikai was introduced to the United States by C. Michial Jones Sensei, as a means of providing instruction, and certification, in traditional Okinawan Gojuryu as taught by Kenei Shimabukuro Hanshi and his technical director Hiroshi Ganaha Hanshi, both of whom were senior students of the late Eiichi Miyazato Sensei. Jones Sensei holds senior grades in Okinawa Goju Ryu Karate Do and Okinawa Kobujutsu/Kobudo, having trained in them since 1977.
Mission: To preserve and teach traditional Okinawan Gojuryu in the tradition of the late Eiichi Miyazato Sensei. We strive to accomplish this in an environment free of intimidation, politics, and other distractions. We further seek to foster a spirit of fellowship and understanding, welcoming all like-minded individuals, regardless of race, gender, ethnic background, religion, national origin, or physical handicap.
Vision: Build healthy minds, bodies, and spirits through the study of traditional martial arts.
Membership/Affiliation: Goeikai USA is made up of students of Jones Sensei, and their students. Others wishing to join should seek out an affiliate dojo, attend one of the regularly scheduled national and international courses, or sponsor an instructor to visit one’s dojo. Membership/affiliation cannot be granted without first having one’s technique evaluated.
